Motor meter threads
I have a motor meter with no nut . I am trying to identify the threads, they are a fine version, maybe metric? It is 7/16 -----That is all I know. I have tried fine thread and does not match. I think this might be original or very early reproduction. thanks for the help , steve

Re: Motor meter threads
You have a couple of choices in 7/16. 7/16-14, 7/16-20, 7/16-28.

Re: Motor meter threads
This is a little old but you might give it a shot...
https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...ight=motometer He mentions 7/16-27 as the thread....

Re: Motor meter threads
The nut for replacement motormeters is available thru major dealers.
The nut for original motormeters is not the same and is so hard to find that, as shown above, one party made up a small amount of them. The moral of the story for most of us is do not buy an original motormeter unless it has the nut. |

Re: Motor meter threads
See if a friend has a thread pitch gauge, you can also use a tap or a thread file to match the thread and then you would know what pitch the thread.

Re: Motor meter threads
I suspect he was using a 1/8 STRAIGHT pipe thread. This is the thread of the threaded hollow rod that you find in electrical application, such as through a ceramic lamp. Try an electrical supply. Both the 1/8 NPT Tapered and straight thread are 27 pitch.

Re: Motor meter threads
No he made them. I have the tap to do the same thing. But yes the nuts u suggested should work on original MM.
