Once after being in the hospital for a MONTH I struggled into Minerva with my braces on, and ended up laying across the seat, struggled to sit up & slid off between the seat & the shifter, on my side.
Shifted her into second & scooted out, like a SNAKE in REVERSE
FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY was able to sit in the seat. Even with a 5 year old battery & NO trickle charger during my hospital stay, she cranked over with GUSTO, but NO START
Gas guage showed EMPTY, guess the EVAPORATION BANDIT stole my GAS
At 2:17 in the AM, sat straight up in bed, "CRAP, I fergot to turn the GAS on" +*^%^$^&
Long story, short, the crappy cork float had SUNK Model A Friends laffed at me---(BASTARDS!!!) I tore up my MEMBERS' list (Don't tell them, but it was an OLD LIST)
Traumatized Bill W .
(By the way, I now have a knotted rope on each side of Vermin, to assist me in getting aboard.)

I am having trouble with the shape of the wire that goes from the back of the gauge to the sharp bend where the float is located. My wire must have been damaged during the gauge removal process. Here is what I see in the picture that has been posted:
The wire first goes straight back about 2 inches.
Then it angles back and to the left about 4 inches.
Then straight back 2 inches to the sharp bend by the float.
Total length of the wire is 8 inches. Can someone give me a more accurate description of the shape of the wire? Thanks, Richard Lorenz

Here is mine...as removed.
I'm sure the exact bends aren't critical... ?

Thank you for your photo, Mitch. I bent my "wire" to look like yours and the gauge assembly fit nicely. Richard Lorenz
