Default Mitchell / Float-A-Motor

Would there be a problem using a Mitchell Overdrive with a Float-A-Motir set up?
The thing I am concerned about would be the overdrive shifter would have to mount on top of tranny and the float-a-motor has a brace that mounts ahead of the cross member. Would they get in each other's way?

if an older FAM set up, suggest installing new doughnuts with only very slight compression to achieve your preferred vibration attenuation.

Is there a difference in the older FAM and the newer ones or are you saying it may need new rubber if it is old?

My take, if you need a FAM then you dont need an overdrive cause you should not be running the engine that hard.

You need a well balanced engine to run the rpm's. If you can't run 55 to 60 MPH all day long comfortably then you are likely going to fast for the mechanical condition of the car.

Granted my opinion, what do I know?

Well said....IMO, A balanced Model A engine should not require a FAM. All my Model A engines were rebuilt with emphasis on balance. You can put a dime on the head and it will not move. Plus, the FAM reduces the strength of the frame.
