Default early 30 cowl lights

did the cowl lights have a screw on the back of the early 1930 model A's or
were they a after market item. I have seen them at Hershey this year. I have an early 1930 coupe and I'm wondering if I passed up the opportunity to get a set.

I have a pair with a screw in the back. I always thought that they were early '30.

This is the only ones I had ever seen.

Brass arms and screw on the back.

I have an extra set I bought for the 30 town sedan I had and forget to send with the car.

My 1997 Judging Standards page 15-2 in a chart at the top of the page indicates screw through March 1930, then riveted through August 1931. Leaves the assumption screw for late 1931 but does not clarify that period of time.

"Model A Restoration Guidelines & Judging Standards", 2016 revisions, page 15-6: "With the introduction of the 1930 models, the cowl lamps had a shape similar to 1930-1931 head lamps and were stainless steel with chrome plated arms. They were standard equipment on deluxe body types and offered as accessories on other models. Early 1930 cowl lamps were assembled with a 10-32 oval head nickel plated screw through the rear of the shell. From April 1930, through the end of production, the lamp was assembled with a cadmium or zinc plated rivet instead of the screw at the rear of the lamp."

My '30 cowling lights have a screw. It holds the sleeve the bulb slips into firmly within the bowl of the lamp. I bet a rivet would be the only option.

A "gator" grip bracket inside the lamp bowl would be suspect as original.
