Default What model has the highest Value in a 1931 ??

Does the Town Sedan have a higher value than a Deluxe or a Slant Window or a (3-window) Murray body fordor ? Is the Murray slant the only model in 31' that did not come with a sun visor? And what about interior differences..Thanks in advance..John

Value depends on what the buyer is looking for!

All Slant windshields were without exterior visors.

I would think most buyers are unaware of such nuances as "Briggs v Murray", or "Slant v Straight" and such.
I would think CONDITION is SO much more important, and who could graph conditions vis a vis "builders v different buyers",and " knowledgeable v not so much"?

Science has determined that it HAS to be the '31 slant windshield town sedan with the Murray body.
Why?
Well, because I have one. Can't argue with science...

How to settle this $$$ question once and for all - Tell the prospective buyer to just start stacking $100 bills on the left running board - AND YOU WILL TELL HIM (HER) WHEN TO STOP. "Nuff Said..."

I paid more for my '31 TownCar (Town Car - not TownSedan) than I did for my '31 Std Tudor or my '31 TownSedan.

But to answer your question: "Does the Town Sedan have a higher value . . . . ". - No.

If not mistaken, Murray, Briggs and Ford produced bodies for the '31 Slant sedan, earlier ones with non- indented firewall. All SW tn sedans window openings were standardized. The SW tn. sedans had a lot less wood than the ones with the visors and to many, though not all owners, are more desirable, perhaps more valuable ? Some of the earlier SW tn sedans had no stitching on the door panels, some with no rear door pockets but a pocket on the back seat, sun visors , etc. etc. The 160 B may be a slightly more valuable with cowl lights and other deluxe features compared to the 160 A std. and be worth more in the market place than a Tudor sedan because there were less SW sedan produced. The De Angeles , Henry The Ford Model A book has pretty good descriptions for interior and exterior options and photos for the different models.
As to value, The A 400, deluxe 2dr. phaeton and Town car will command more $$ due to low production no's.

Hey guys, nobody addressed the subject of the history of the car being bought or sold. I would advise anyone to buy the car with a history instead of the one without. One car can be in showroom condition, but has no papers or receipts to show you what was done and when. Another can be in not nearly as good a condition, but has a history of everything from the day it was first bought. I would buy the second car without hesitation and even pay more because I know from experience that it will almost positively save me money in the long run.

Besides, one of the neatest things about owning any A is knowing where it’s been, and who put their love and money into it before you.

For what it’s worth I also agree with wingski. Orginal engine, two or three owners, well cared for and family loved Model A.

I don’t really care how nice it looks, or how well it has been restored. If it’s make from parts of many different cars, has had numerous owners, I would move on.

No different than buying a used car today. Enjoy.

There are several very low production models like the town car delivery that command high dollars. In small production numbers the A400 and 68C bring good dollars
The slant window fordors 160 a-c are very desirable and are in demand
The 31's generally bring more than the other A years but many exceptions on a spotty basis
Just imho

Actually I believe the 160c being the 2nd lowest production passenger model a ford is...of the most value.....

Value, like beauty, is in the eyes of the beholder. My father used to say that nothing was worth anything until the money changes hands.

dont think any Town cars were made in 31 unless they were privately commissioned.
