Default Tillotson Carburetor Painting

It is come to my attention the the Tillotson Carburetor is to be painted black.

I have completely disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. I am awaiting the repair kit.

Question, Would it be better to paint the two halves of the carburetor separately, or, would it be better to paint the carburetor after is has been completely reassembled?

Thanks,

Is it pot-metal like the other Tillys? If so, since it's not stock anyway, I think I'd just leave it natural.

None were painted, they did however have a kind of gold-ish/yellow-ish tint that was applied to the top and bottom housings. The stock carburetor was the Zenith and would have been painted.
