Default ZENITH 2 sidebowl carb question

Recently acquired a Zenith 2 side bowl carb . Both the choke driver and side bowl filter housing appear to be made of brass. The existing zenith side bowl carb on my 31 SW has a cast iron filter housing and a cadmium coated choke driver. From my research the latter appears to be correct and several previous posts acknowledge the brass choke driver as aftermarket .
Has anyone seen a brass side bowl filter housing ?

John

Thanks

Originally,

Beginning in May 1931 with the introduction of the
indented firewall, a cast iron filter bowl was mounted on
the side of the carburetor with a cadmium plated bolt and
two tan or reddish brown fiber washers. Cast iron sediment
bulbs were dull black, gasoline resistant Japan enamel.

My father would always remind me that I wasn't the first person to handle the Model A Parts on my car. The brass choke driver is probably a replacement but if the sediment bowl is brass then that is a mystery as I have never seen or heard of such a thing.

Thanks for the reply TinCup - I have rechecked and all indications are that it is brass . Very unusual as far as I can tell .

There are also markings on the carb castings C52 on the bottom part and G12 on the Top - any idea what their significance is?

Does a magnet stick to it?

No that is the first thing I checked - all the threads and inside of the casting shows it is clearly brass.

Are the markings indented? Can you post pics of markings?

Thanks for the reply RonC - the markings on the upper part are indented and the lower ones are raised - see third picture . The Zenith 2 marking is indented with a - between the Zenith and 2

I just rebuilt a carb that had a brass or bronze filter on it, it was no good at all as someone drilled out the gas inlet and no way to hook up the gas line. Also the drain valve was not the right thread size and no drain hole in it. The bolt that holds the sidebowl to the carb was made wrong the hex head was way bigger than the standard size. Had to replace it wth the right sidebowl. First and only I ever saw like that in all the years I have rebuilding carbs
