Default Securing Gas Gauge Glass Lens to body...

What material have you used to secure the Gas Gauge Glass Lense to the mainframe of the gauge itself?

Thanks.

Several good instructional videos on gas gauge rebuilding.

Gasket and Permatex #3 seems to work well so far. Early fiber gasket (1/32"), later cork (1/16"); due to different placement of the shield anchor hole between the two.

I use my go-to gasket sealer Hylomar Blue, thin coat on each side of the gasket.

BTW, last gas gauge I did I used old-fashioned Simichrome polish on a T-shirt to clean up the dial. Polished up quite nicely and didn't disturb the black in the numbers (I angled my strokes across the lines in the dial, didn't polish with the lines lest it get into the grooves). It seems to do a nice chemical polish on the pot metal, not the sanding that others have advocated. I have not tried this technique after a repaint of the numbers with butyrate dope, though.
