Default Assembling rear brakes - is this correct?

Looking for advice in reassembling my rear brakes.

Correct orientation of service brake arm
Does the service brake arm go onto the cam shaft with the tapered side towards the backing plate, as shown in the photo? I’m missing the dust rings, so am held up on the reassembly job. Would a rubber O-ring do a better job of keeping dust out of that join anyway? I can’t imagine how a metal ring keeps dust out. Does it sit snug on the camshaft in between the arm and the housing or is it large enough to sit over the narrowest part of the taper (in which case could I use a generic non-Model A part)?

Inserting pin through service brake arm
One of the photos shows a repro pin, sitting on top of the service brake arm in the position that it has to go. What is the best way to install the pin? It also looks much too long, from memory it’s longer than the one that I had to get pressed out. Is that an issue? Do I drive it right in, leaving all the extra length hanging out at one end, or try to equalise the extra length on each side?

Lubricating the emergency brake toggle shaft (No photo)
This shaft was frozen when I disassembled the brakes. I’m not surprised because I can’t see how this shaft gets lubrication. Am I missing something obvious? Should I install this shaft with some grease (I think so)? Then what?

Correct on the service brake arm. Dust ring value? - questionable.

Pin - equal amount on each side and peen or press upsets on each side.

Grease the shaft before installing.

The emergency break shafts can be modified to add a grease fitting. See attached.

The service brake arm "fork" should always be twisted inward to follow the angle of the rear brake rods as they run to the cross shaft in the middle of the frame. This fork (where the brake rod eye is held in place by a clevis pin) roughly follows the angle of the rear radius rods.
'Makes remembering the arm's orientation easier, doesn't it?
