Re: Painted with a brush
Many of the worlds finest yachts are painted with a roller and 'tipped' with a brush.

Re: Painted with a brush
wmws, agree - our roadster has a 50 year old amateur restoration, and while not brush painted, it shows it's age having spent at least half of that time in a barn; I find working on it much less stressful than on a restored car - and a little less of a production, no need for moving blankets on the fenders, sweat pants only, no belt buckles, etc.
I really like the situation Capt. Quahog describes, to me almost perfect way to enjoy an "A". I have a new appreciation for these sorts of cars - show cars are great, and restoration is great, but for me this is just a new aspect of the hobby that is a lot of fun as well. The overwhelming feedback I get from friends is to leave this one as is and it is not "original" in the sense that it has been painted and I think the interior is a very old replacement job. We'll see, it will likely get restored at some point - that is the plan, but for now, a lot of fun and less stress. I must be getting better about nicks and such though, wife hit a big branch in the road a couple weekends ago while we were enjoying a drive in rural western MA in our Mercedes SL roadster - made a mark on the bumperette, she was bummed for an hour or so but I just figure it is the cost of using the car on a perfect fall day..

Re: Painted with a brush
To be safe even a model A that looks a little "ratty" needs to be mechanically restored.
"Ratty"on the outside + mechanically perfect = Rat Rod! Does that make owners of such model A Fords Rodders!!! Running and ducking ! |

Re: Painted with a brush
Uncle Mutt hit & KILLED a mule on the highway, in his BLACK '36 Chev. Hid it in the BARN, until he could brush paint his "NEW", light blue, R/F fender!

Re: Painted with a brush
I rattle canned my car 5 times (different colors) . I tried brush , but with auto paint it tried to dry as I was painting . kinda a mess . I finally had it painted by a friend in a both . not a very big improvement . but now with all the paint on it , I'm sure it weighs more . never have to worry about rust !
