Default fuel shut off valve

want to install a fuel shutoff valve in the fuel line between tank and carb. Requires 12 volts and ground. Car has been converted to 12 volt negative ground.. Can i pick up 12 volts on the distributor side of the ignition switch. Thanks for you assistance.

maybe maybe not. depending on how you have your ignition wired. originally the coil had power to it all the time and the pop out switch connects the other side of the coil to the distributor. but if you are running your power to the coil through the ignition switch. you can wire your shutoff to the switch

I assume yes, but may want to check the current capacity of the ignition switch against the combined current draw of the ignition and the shutoff valve.

Some vendors carry a switch with ignition and accessory wiring lugs. Do not know if they are 2 separate switch contacts, or if lugs are just tied together using one switch contact.

The ignition and accessory wiring switch sound like a good deal. Will try to find one. Thanks

Snyders or Nurex, make sure to insulate (tape or inner tube teh back of it to insure no shorting to the gas tank.

if you are wired original. and you put the nice Snyder`s on off switch in your car. it will only do the same as a pop out and connect the coil to the distributor. if you use the switch to power up the coil and connect the wire on the other side of the coil to the distributor. then you can tap your gas shut of wire to the switch.

I installed the one on the car in my avatar in 1998. I sold the car to a friend in 2000 and bought it back from him a year ago. I cannot remember the name of the company that made it but they were in Ohio. I bought several from them in the 90’s and installed them on my 155-c, 400-a, 160-b and this car. I never had a leak or a problem. I always install seat belts, turn signals and electric fuel shut-offs on all my A’s. Anything else installed is “something else to go wrong!”
