Default Out of 1 year storage

I'm taking two cars out of a one year "Sitting Idle" garaged storage and looking for advice as to what to do before putting in new batteries and just starting them right up.

Also:

Should I have any problem concerns with using one of those constant monitoring battery charging units, which you keep connected to your battery and allow it to monitor and charge your battery during any kind of long term storage? Thanks in advance to all who reply to this post. CC

I'd do some checks on the basics: oil and coolant levels, check for any obvious leaks that might have developed over the two years.
I use battery maintainers but they are where I can see them - not that there'd be a major problem if one died, but I prefer to be able to check on anything plugged into electricity every now and then.

I would think change the oil (if you had not already done so before you put it up for the year) and squirt a little in the cylinders, turn the engine over would also be another level of protection.

mikeV has good advice. I put oil in the cylinders and turn it over by hand a few turns and then crank it with the plugs out before firing it up.

Be sure to check the electrolyte level in the battery once in a while if it's on a maintainer.

I would use "foggin oil" (you can get it from any boat store) to spark in cylinders. Also if the gas was not drained out prior you will need something added to gas to get gum outta the jets (Fuel injector cleaner is what I use).

Good luck D
