Default Good motor oil on sale

The Walmarts around here are discounting Mobil oil. They are still carrying Mobil 1 Synthetic but their base motor oils are red tagged to $2 per quart. I'm guessing they're not going to carry the regular Mobil in 10W-30 and 10W40 anymore, the '5000 mile oil'.

Check it out, good brand oil for a good price won't last long.

I can remember buying it for $2.00 a gallon. Notice that oil prices have not dropped as much as gas prices.. Gas here in my section of VA is between 2 & 2.15.

WallyWorld prices vary from location to location, even with-in a few miles. It depends upon the cost of living where they set up shop. Low income....cheaper than where one is located in up-scale neighborhoods and towns.

Had to post this in two places:
Speaking of regular oil, or conventional oil as it's now called, I went into a Pep Boys store and was looking at the oil for sale. Wow, talk about confusion, synthetic, partially synthetic, I'm concerned that just plain motor oil as we know it will become obsolete in the very near future. And expensive! Most synthetic and synthetic blends were $7.00 a quart, even the cheapest regular oil in a 5 quart container was $16.00.

Also read somewhere that Walmart brand oil, the stuff in the blue bottle, was made by Mobil, that it was re-cycled, new detergents added.

Anyone else hear or read of this? A local mechanic told us he uses that oil and has for years never had a problem.

Another cheapo route you can take.

Thanks Jeff/Illinois, however I'm not looking for cheap and definitely not recycled just good prices on name brand conventional oil. But I dare say that the recycled stuff for Model A purposes is probably good and my even be better than what was available in 1930.

Regurg oil ? Re-cycled oil isn't it re-refined oil? And how much reclaimed oil has synthetic oil in it? Or does re-refining the reclaimed oil remove the old synthetic oil?

The new recycling techniques yield high-quality base oil that can match crude oil. And did you know, All major car manufacturers have approved the use of recycled motor oil that is properly certified by the American Petroleum Institute (API).

So when you buy oil are the manufacturers obligated to inform you if it's recycled or not and if it's a mix of synthetic, conventional or deep-fryer oil???

The FTC ruled that there is no requirement by the manufacturer to state if the oil is recycled They only need to show the API and ILSAC performance standards.
