40 Ford hinges
How are the doors on a 40 Ford bolted to the body? Do the flat head screws bolt into individual nuts on the back or do the screws thread into a nut plate that is threaded for all the screws on that hinge?

Re: 40 Ford hinges
They are oval head 5/16 fine thread screws ,lock washers and nuts. You can find the correct stuff here. http://www.fordscript.com/ford_bolts/index.html

Re: 40 Ford hinges
Joel,
Thanks for your prompt response. There were lock washers and nuts on my hinges but For some of them it's tough to get a wrench in the right spot and I wondered if maybe they used a nut plate. Thanks again, |

Re: 40 Ford hinges
Although my 40 is all together I reached up above the cardboard kick panel and I can feel the 3 nuts that hold the 5/16-18 hinge screws in place on the top hinge.

Re: 40 Ford hinges
I have pulled 2 40 pickups and a 4 door sedan apart and they used plates with threads in them, These are spot welded in place. A beech to get back in the correct place when they twist out.
