Default The model a drag link/pitman arm

Questions for the genius brains. Why does a Model A have a pitman arm ball on the opposite side as most drag link setups? Usually the ball is to the outside and the arm is parallel with the ball in the spindle arm. The A has the drag link on an angle, almost parallel to the wishbone. Was that the intent?

Huh? You lost me on that one. I guess I do not fall into the genius brain category.

I also don't fall into the genius category but I am willing to take a guess If the ball were to the outside would the drag link hit the tire on a sharp left turn? Otherwise it must be a geometry problem that's beyond my pay grade. Jack

To keep the straightest line between the spindle ball and the steering arm.

I'm not a genius but my opinion is the reason the Pitman arm ball location is on the inside is to gain more clearance for the L/F tire to clear the drag link on a left-hand turn.

Never thought about it hitting the tire. That makes sense.
