I had a hell of a time with my '52 trans because I refused to read the directions and thought "Well, assembly is the reversal of disassembly so..." After installing the cluster and having no way to get the input shaft into the case and punching the cluster shaft out and hearing all those carefully placed pins go all over the case, I pulled out the shop manual.

Mike J has it right though, that's the method I finally used and it worked perfectly. I just wish I had saved myself a couple of hours and done it that way the first time.

Thanks to the suggestions here, info from Mac at VanPelt and a transmission guru on the FTE (Ford Truck Enthusiasts) Forum, my Trans. is all back together.
Even has 3 forwards, a reverse and a neutral!!
Won't be road tested for a while, but all seems well!!
Thanks Again!!
