Question Tail Light Part Question

Hey All,

I was wondering if anyone uses the Tail Light Snap Ring part # 19110

If so, ... does it really help?

I ask because I dropped and broke one of my lenses yesterday trying to get it all lined while installing the lenses. I tried to get a pair yesterday at the Early Ford Store when I picked up a new lens, but they were unaware of the part and didn't carry it.

If you have some, could you please measure the diameter of the wire so I can make a pair.

Regards
Bill

They help, and they seem to be almost spring steel. Not sure you could make effective rings from plain wire, but maybe you have something else in mind. The wire diameter is about 3/16. I suggest just ordering a couple. They fit the inside diameter of the lens bezel.

Thanks 700rpm,

I have tons of Music Wire (spring steel) here in a whole slew of sizing. I'll look at 3/16" (.187) and some 1/8" (.125) and construct a pair.

When installed, do the end's touch or is there just a small amount of spring tension holding them in?

Regards
Bill

Bill,
Are you a "PIANO" man? It's AMAZING what PROFESSIONS/HOBBIES some Folks have! I heard of a Man that builds 3/4 Scale, REAL Stagecoaches! Some were used in "TALES OF WELLS FARGO" SERIES!
The mark of a REAL CRAFTSMAN is to be able to cover up your mistakes, UNDETECTED!!---LOL (Break out the BONDO!) We make jokes about Bondo, but what would we do without it? (Or Wood Putty)

Ifn it's not there, what's holding the lens in?

That ring should have an upset near one end to facilitate taking it out.

Mine have a little gap, about 1/8’’. I think this is to aid R & R.
