Default New Battery

I went to take the A out for a ride over the weekend, wouldn't crank,it had been turning over very weakly for awhile and the battery charger would not bring it up sufficiently,I jumped it and went out for a cruise.I stopped on the way home and bought a new group 1 battery to the tune of $106.00 plus $27.00 core charge,in the early 60's I bought a new battery for $11.00,I guess with inflation it is about right.

I just bought a group 2 for my 40, it had a group 1. Paid about 85$ plus 18$ core, NAPA.

Since gas went for $.25 a gallon (diesel $.17) back then, cost in the 60s X10+ would be about right for now. Somehow it just seems that a dollar went further.

Run a maintainer on the battery periodically, a good battery will last many years if never allowed to go dead.

You did pretty good if that battery lasted from the early 60's until last weekend.

Why didn't you Swap out the battery while you were there and avoided the core charge?
