I would put the battery on a charger and test later with a hydrometer this would confirm all good calls or a weak cell,assuming it is not a sealed battery.

Ok, so thanks to all the tips on where to trouble shoot. I did locate the culprit, put it on battery charger, jumped to six amp charging rate, looked at it ten minutes or so later it was only charging less than two. Hit the starter, turned right over, odd, but a lite bulb flickers on in the old noggin from fifty years ago. I unscrew the cell caps and none of the three cells are in acid. Almost dry cells. Bingo

If you boiled off that much battery acid in an A, as little as it is driven, in only two years, you might want to consider lowering the rate of charge. What does your ammeter show while driving?

Just what I think I'd do if it were me. No, actually, I'd switch to 12volts and a decent charge regulation alternator, but that's just me...

Buy a fun projects regulator to replace the original cutout. Can't tell any difference in looks but it will keep your battery in good shape for many years.
