Cupola questions
I noticed little droplets of water working it’s way up between the threads and the nut of the head bolt adjacent to the distributor on the drivers side. Does this indicate a blown head gasket?
Also, where would I look for the cause of backfiring when the engine is turned off. What is the cause of the gas leakage around the carb in the photo? |

Re: Cupola questions
"...backfiring when the engine is turned off" is almost always timing when I did my first tune-up I could shut off the car and get out before it sounding like a rifle went off.
It is never good to see that on a head as it indicates a crack. If it were my car and it being driving season in most parts of the country, I would either leave it and monitor it until the winter when the head can be removed for inspection, or remove the nut and put a little permatex sealer around the bolt and tighten it again and monitor it until the winter when the head can be removed for inspection.

Re: Cupola questions
It looks like more than just a head nut leaking.

Re: Cupola questions
The gas leaking, could just be bad gasket and sloshing allowing it to leak out or float level is set too high.
