Default Is this normal? (Piston rod)

Is this normal for a piston rod to be so far offset like this?

Here are the rod caps. The closer one is the one from the off-center piston rod. Note the wear patterns. Also, if you look on the side photo, you can see the babbit is not smooth - don't know if that matters or not.

No that's wrong either a bent rod or bore off centre or thrust off centre
Check your piston the thick casting like ice cream stick goes on the cam side yours looks wrong

Looks like they put the rod grooves in with a 10 penny nail, and that thrust babbitt isn't long for this world, as it isn't stuck.

Yes, the rods have never been trued, and they are Bad, as all rods need to be checked .

That engine should have knocked Bad.

As far as the piston, If the piston has a expansion slot in it, the piston is in wrong, if there is no slot, that reinforcement on the side is normally where they put the slot, and the pistons are right. They just try to cut cost on a set of pistons.

Take a trip out to Bend and see Bill Barlow he can check the rods and probably straighten/repour the babbit for you.

Did someone flip a (or 2) rod caps? The oil scupper should face the valve chamber.
