Plastic cover = no heat dissipation?

Or maybe one can choose a lubricant which has a higher "viscosity curve." (i.e. can run "hotter.")

Cool! I have done the same thing with Model T transmission, installed a plastic cover to watch oil flow.

My Morris had a square diff cover. It wasn't worm drive either. Go figure.

It's round because if it were any other shape, it would sound like a different instrument.

Gale has his theory but the truth is, there are tons of square back diff covers running around on trucks pulling commercial loads with no sign of any ill effect.
