Default Mallory Ignition

I have a Mallory Distributor, Type 11A, Model YCM that has dual points and centrifugal advance. What engines does this fit?

That distributor fits both model A and B engines . I have two of those Mallory distributors and love them . Dual points is said to double the spark . My girls especially like the Mallory distributors because they don't have to worry with the spark lever . The last Mallory distributor that I bought was probably around 96 or 7 and it has performed flawlessly . The only thing that I ever had to replace is the condenser . I've been told by a reliable source that Mallory has been sold and the newest Mallory distributors are not nearly as good as they use to be .

Some of the old Gleaner combine engines were model a power units. The ones that I've encountered that were used in this area had Mallory distributors with dual points. I have one but never have used it.

The Y is mechanical advance only. The M is for Magspark.
And the C means it has the Magspark guts (may some breakers and a special cam??).

Dual points will add to the capability of increasing the spark, but in reality won't change the way the engine runs as it uses only what it needs. 4 cyl. engines have plenty of dwell time with one set of points, and all that dual points do is increase dwell time.

No argument . Dwell increases spark . If the engine has other mods and can use more spark , the Pertronix coil can give it . If hotter ignition didn't help No body would have ever use it . Hotter coils , dual points and magnetos have been used since the early days for performance . I can feel the performance that the flame thrower coil gives my mildly hopped up model A engines and it can help stock engines that are properly tuned .
