Default Speedo cable again

I took my old speedo cable out and measured it @ 61 & 7/8ths. I measured an original cable from a friend's project - cable is 62 & 1/4 in length. My cable pulls free from the speedo gear and quits working. Where can I get a longer cable with keyed drive for trans gear and squared end for speedo? Can't find one from commercial vendors (Snyder's, Bratton's, etc). Thanks, BW

Maybe instead of looking for a longer cable, find a shorter case, or shorten yours. I am not sure about this, but it might be worth looking into.......

You might check with Chris Cushman in Kansas. He rebuilds Model A speedometers and may have a good cable for you.

Ok dumb question but i had the same problems. Have you looked at the speedo gear, I drove myself nuts by having the speedo rebuilt (needed it anyway) changing 3 cables. When all was done and still did NOT work, then the light went off, about 175.00 later HEY CHECK THE GEAR and there it was. Took me 15 minutes to change out, attached all and worked like a dream. Check that @
good luck

they sell that short cable 61 7/8 inch with a spacer of 1/4 inch or so which gets lost in the plastic wrapping....you can make it from a nail the same diameter as the cable end and it goes in the speedo gear on the transmisson to take up slack and keep the other end in the speedometer .... worked for me!
