Default Cooling System Capacity

Getting ready to flush out the cooling system in the old Henry and put in a 50/50 antifreeze mix. Anybody know how many quarts are in the system ?

What year of vehicle do you have? Is it an A or AA? My instruction book that covers the '28-'29 style passenger car radiator says 3 gallons but I would guess that the later ones hold more. Does it get cold enough in the Florida Panhandle to require antifreeze, I just use just water pump lubricant/anti rust in southern California?

A 31 Tudor. Yep, we get down to below freezing here in the Panhandle usually in February. By March we normally turn the switch to a comfortable Spring. The bigger problem is boil over during the summer. Everything considered, I like two seasons and really do not miss the winters of my formative years growing up in NJ - unless you are looking for a good pizza !!

BTW - Spent a few years in San Bernardino back in the 70s -never froze, it was great !

Antifreeze will cause temps to increase , especially the 50-50 mix . Back when I used antifreeze in our model A's I used one gallon of antifreeze with two gallons of water . It seldom gets cold enough here in Alabama to bust a model A block . I don't take chances . I drain mine when there is a chance of freezing . If its freezing its too cold for me to go for a pleasant ride in the model A .

3 gallonsish. I usually fill it up to the top of the baffles and let it spit out what it doesn't want.
