Model A Engine Number *RF4048*
Can anyone identify Model A engine number *RF4048*, which is the reassigned number for the original unknown?

Never heard of a number like that. It may be the rebuilder shops initials and the invoice number.

I came across a 1931 Coupe several years ago that had an RF13xx number stamped on the motor. The guy had no title. We figured that the RF meant "Rebuilt Ford" and was probably stamped on a rebuilt block sometime in the last 80 years by whoever did the work. This was on a farm near the South Dakota-Minnesota border near Sioux Falls, SD.
