Sears Engine Tester 2110
I just picked up a Sears Automotive Tester that will work well on the Model A.
It measures and checks the condensor, the volts, the dwell for a 4 cylinder engine, etc.. However...no instruction manual. Anybody got one of these Sears Testers in their shop that has a manual? Thanks in advance. I will try to post a pic later of the device. BTW what is the correct dwell for the A distributor when set properly at the .018-.022" gap? Dennis L Oberer Green Bay WI |

Re: Sears Engine Tester 2110
the best way to get your proper dwell reading is to set your point gap properly then check the dwell. that would be your dwell reading. model A distributor cam lobes are not always equal with sometimes uneven lobe height so using a dwell meter is'nt always the best way on these motors.

Hi Dennis....I have an older Sears Auto tester....a large box like unit. Its stashed away in my shop someplace. I think I had the manual for it. What model is yours? I would be happy to copy you a manual if its the same one.

Re: Sears Engine Tester 2110
I tested a good used A cam and with .020" gap it has 27* dwell
I tested a new repro B cam and with .020" gap it has 40* dwell |

As noted, set your points including a check on all four lobes and then use your tester to log the results. I would expect 33 degrees +/- but you won't know until you check it.
