Sounds like you are building an old hot rod. The easy route is to use the shackles that have the Teflon bushings. Easy to install and last a long time.

Polyurethane or nylon. Both work fine when lubed with that special shackle sticky grease to keep away squeeks.

You may want to do search on that topic here, and get the expert's advice on what do use and how to properly install them from the likes of KUBE
I have an A roadster on 32 rails with a Model A cross member and spring with a '40 rear end I built, and believe me I only use original NOS or NORS shackle studs/bushings that look like the photo. Fred Wilner at SO Side, Barnfind08 here on the forum will likely have them.
The '40 rear end shackle dimensions; stud OAL 4.015", bushing OAL 2.280, and the bushing OD is 0.755. Don't recall the A spring dimension, but they look about the same. Someone on the A forum might be able to help on that.

If you are going to use stock type bushings, which I would not, make sure you have the special tools to remove and replace them. They are a PITA.

Speedway nylon . Long lasting , easy to install . They aren't prone to deteriorate like the rubber, asbestos originals .

I knew there would come a day when I would agree with Philip. Count me as another vote for Speedway nylon for a hot rod or a driver. "Work good last long time."

Speedway shackle pins are just held in by peening the ends. Pete and Jakes are tig welded. That would be my choice if not using original ,and I also use sintered bronze bushings.

John
I used Pete and Jakes pins with nylon bushings. Bronze, no thanks.
