Default 40 hood problem

building 40 pickup. in process of hanging front end question for experts i can get hood spacing at cowl almost perfect all bolts are tight after opening hood 2-3 times hinge bolts are loose and gaps are horrible am i missing something?

First impression is that you have a problem with your hood. There should be a small shoulder washer or sleeve on the flange of the hood that the hinge arms marry to. This shoulder is the pivot for the hood hinges and are in may cases rusted or worn off. They stick thru the hood hinge arm and are slightly thicker than the hinge arm for clearance. The hood hinge bolt is a 1/4" fine hex bolt that screws into the sleeve and an SAE washer serves as a spacer, as the arm pivots the bolts are tightened down to abut the threaded sleeve. The bolts are held in place with safety wire to keep the from coming loose. If you have used shoulder bolts in this area that is the start of your problem. Post a picture and you can get a better response to your issue but check the hood mounts first.
