Nothing American in the Model Y. But they were designed & prototypes made in Detroit for Ford England. Actually, the US Model 40's were styled from the Model Y design by Bob Gregory & Edsel Ford. They were a great sales success for Ford & were sold in Europe & exported to markets in Australia, New Zealand & Sth America . They were very cheap, economical, good for towns & cities & Ford rugged. Sold up to 1937 & along with the Austin 7 one of the first 'world small cars'.
