1931 Wide bed problem
I purchased a wide bed from Mack's in Mobley Mo. I received the wood rails with the bed that go between the bed and the frame. My problem is the thickness of the wood is 1/4 inch thicker than the lip on the bottom of the lower sides that measures 1 3/4 inches. The bed is 46 inches wide. I temporarily mounted the wood rails on the frame and they measure 46 inches outside to outside. Now when I position the wood rails on the bottom of the bed I lose 3/4 inch on both sides because the rails do not slide into the opening on the lower bed sides. I called Mack's and Joy told me the wood was to spec. She also stated they never have installed one of their beds on a Model A???????? Does anyone have photographs of the installation of the wood rails installed? Did I received the wrong thickness of wood rails? Should I create a groove in the rails to slide into the sides of the bed? Any help on this will be much appreciated. Thank you.
