How far out are they?

From the factory they were allowed .125" in wobble and out of round. Since the axles are fairly heavy you can have things further out and not affect ride. Keep in mind some of the cheaper tires might be more out of round.

I have the problem with my coupe, where as I go down a smooth road, it feels like my front end is going up and down. I have tried various rims (I have extra 21 in. ones) but can't find the problem. But I do have fairly new Firestone tires on it. It may be like Kevin mentions above, the tires may be out of round. Have to check the tires for roundness. Anybody have any suggestions how to check this?

I'd set the front axle on stands, make a little adjustable jig to set along side the tire and simply spin the tire, if you set it right, you should be able to see if it is either the wheel or tire.
You could use something as simple as a 3 leg camera stand.

Do you have an address or phone number for Pico Wheel in Santa Clarita? I see a Pico Wheel in Chatsworth, but I am not sure if that is the same company. I am in Thousand Oaks and have 19" wheels that are out of round. I have tried them without the tires and the wobble/out of round is not good. The tires I have are brand new Goodyears.

Thanks.

That is him. They are in the process of moving to Santa Clarita. I hope to get my rims back from them next week. I am sure his phone number is the same.
They are the absolute best place to take rims. I just had him straighten five 16" 1935 wires that were miserably out of spec in all directions. They wouldn't even lay flat on the floor. Now they are perfect. He still has two of them that he is widening.

Thanks, I'll give him a call to get an idea of the cost. I very much appreciate your reply.

Since this will be read by so many people - is there anyone in or around the Chicago area for the same type of work; rim straightening.

I called his phone number yesterday and left a message regarding my wheels. I have not heard back from him yet. I will call again on Monday.
