Default 30 Hood hinge Riveted bracket

I have a 30 Fordor that has an issue with the hood. On the front end of the center hinge, there was a riveted piece of metal. It was mostly a folded/rolled piece of metal that was placed on the end of the hood and then riveted to itself. I do not think it was riveted through the hood but it might have. Through the course of opening the hood, it has ripped the rivet out of the piece of metal and now sticks up and does not move when the hood is closed. I can't seem to find out exactly what this is in any of the forums or parts catalogs. Is it riveted to itself, was it supposed to be there in the first place???? Any help in how I can replace/repair it would be greatly appreciated. I found this on how to make a hinge for a model but it shows the part I am trying to identify. I'm sure it is something simple and I just don't know what I am doing.

I wish I could help you but I have a similar problem where the center hinge is torn and I don't know how to go about repairing it. Jack

Those rivets have a habit of coming loose. I clamped everything in place and welded them up. A quick repaint and hey presto!

I have no idea. When we bought the car it was like this. I would guess factory but not sure how you would tell.

Find another model A and ask the owner to examine his hood in that area. That way you will find out exactly what is wrong with your hood.

Often overlooked is lubricating the hood hinges. This probably caused the problems.
When working on our clubs As, we often find dry hinges. A couple drops of oil at each location fixes the problem. No more noisy hinges!
