The Ford Barn

Hello ,I was just in garage laying out the pattern for my 1929 Tudor header wood, So having read that Mr. Ford was a real penny pincher. I know it would easier to saw out header, I'm using oak , and then steam and bolt in place. To get curve across top . Question, was this done by Ford ? By the way a buddy bought a new one some years ago ,before I needed one and I spent a lot of time to fit it in his car. thanks Crossthread

Lots of steps, valleys, humps and curves on a 29 Tudor header wood. I really suspect they were sawn, routed and sanded. They do take a bit of "adjusting". I bought mine from a supplier and I did have to adjust, mostly where the beveled metal cover slips over the front surface.

Many of the original pieces were formed on a Shaper using a template because they were production oriented. Don't know exactly what on the Front Rail (header) could be steamed.
