Got set of shocks + arms . Please can someone tell me how to establish which shocker goes at which wheel .
ditto the arms ? Thanks .

Short arms are front, longs on rear. I don't know how to tell the correct placement on the shocks. I just put mine on last week and luckily they were marked. Mine were one of the last sets done by Mr Robert Paul before he passed. He did a great job on the rebuild!

Lineup shocks cw, ac, cw, ac.
Install a front arm and a rear arm on the cw shocks.
Same for the AC shocks.
This assumes the shocks are assembled correctly.

1) I do not see two mounting flanges but it is likely that the photo angle has one flange hidden.

2) A correct set will have 2 shocks operating clockwise, 2 in opposite direction.

3) Left front and right rear are the same. Right front and left rear are the same.

4) The refill plug goes at the top when mounted

5) As to the arms the short ones are front, long on the rear.

Hello John,

I'm not sure, but the third link arm looks like it's not bent. According to service bulletin improvement, the front short linkages were changed in curved design because the straight could touch the damper housings.

There is some damage to the stem valves and the orientation of the covers is hard to decern. Looks like an unmatched set. If you take a picture with the mounting lugs to the top we will see what you have better.

The arms will only mount one way as they have a notch on the shock shaft. From there its easy to line them up.

A way to tell where they go if you can't find the AC or CW, is the notches should point towards the centre cross member.

i would mount the shocks on a board , make a test bar and time the movement as in the service bulletins, and make adjustments ----unless you aren't concerned about proper operation and just want the ornaments,

If you find your shocks are not working properly or having a problem getting them adjusted properly, give John Holland a call at 330-483-3896. John is an expert on Model A shocks. He rebuilt mine some years ago and they are still working perfectly.

Think of them as rebound suppressors. easy on the way up, hard to move on the way down
