Default Speedometer Cable Grease

I sent the following email to the Lubriplate Lubricants Company:

What type of grease should be applied to automobile speedometer cables?

Response from Lubriplate: We recommend LUBRIPLATE Aero.

Default Re: Speedometer Cable Grease

I have always used vaseline. It does not run when warm, nor get stiff, when cold.
