So, I should come there with low expectations and they will meet them? That place was always kinda' marginal in my book. But, one of these days we may give it another try. ha ha You're right, the real reason to get together is to visit with each other and see what's going on.

I don't want to say that I've had better meals in an Army Mess Hall but...

Steve, you know the proper Noun-Nomenclature is "Mystery Meat", and no, that is one thing I would not eat, no matter what they called it... LOL

For the most part, I thought Army chow was pretty good. The 1949 c-rats left a bit to be desired though.

Vic,
Don't forget that after the meal you could enjoy a 4 pack of Lucky Strikes courtesy of the Army. (1956)

Hey, in 1969 we were eating C -rations that were dated 1941... Loved the lead based OD paint that would chip and fall into the cans when you used your P38 to open them... Nothing like cold Lima Beans & Ham...

Cold lima beans and ham, now that brings back a few things I was trying to forget. Still got my P38. Paul

Me too Paul, I've even got the scar from wearing the P38 on my dog tag chain...

Now that you mention it, I think ours in VietNam were the same vintage. The paint was a condiment.

A BIG Thank You to Charlie NY

The PV's and correct gaskets made all the difference in both the '39 LZ and the '39 CS. As always, I appreciate your help. Thanks again. Vic

That's great to hear. Will you be driving the 39 LZ to the hot rod breakfast this Saturday? Steve

Hi Steve, ya know how you get one thing fixed and something else goes.... Well, I was driving the LZ, seeing how she would run with the new PV, I shut her off for a bit and when I went to fire her up again, she spun the starter... So, Saturday after the breakfast, I'll be pulling the starter out of the LZ to see just what went south... More Flathead fun...

Son of a gun! You are right...there seems to be always something that needs worked on but that's what makes it fun. Maybe I will follow you back after breakfast and lend a hand. Perhaps the Bendix went south but you will know for sure once the starter is removed.
