Default Brake light switch

We have a car in my shop that was purchased by a customer from Mecum auction. There is nothing on this car that isn't broken or worn out completely.
We found this on the brake light switch when I was removing the brake cross shaft. One of many things we have seen.

You get a car and free tools too? What are you complaining about?

If there are no holes in the cross member for the switch to bolt to, I would guess the A is a 29 as it does not appear to have the 3 piece brake system. If so, the switch is incorrect and it should have a switch mounted on the transmission.

Apparently, the person that mounted that switch had no idea what was correct OR he could not remove the floor boards, OR it was a roadside emergency fix.

Buyer obviously did NOT inspect car ("There is nothing on this car that isn't broken or worn out completely.") or had too many drinks. Wonder what he ended up paying??

I'm afraid to ask how much the owner paid. It is a 30' Roadster to answer another question above. The switch is correct, but the brake rod to the switch is bent badly.
The main reason for the post was to show how important to have someone on hand that knows these cars, not just through dreaming eyes.

Yep, on most large purchases I like to look it over, then go home and think it over, then go back for a second look. The second look often see things missed the first time.

If the thing is a good buy though, you may have to act quickly or loose the deal.

Folks will purchase a car that looks good even if it doesn't work good. Roadsters are popular cars and the prices reflect that. Auctions don't always let prospective bidders know the condition of a vehicle so a person has to look it over as much as the owner & auction company will allow and know what to look for. Not all people that purchase at auctions are car guys so this stuff is bound to happen.

Hello, even when looking several times there are things you may miss , on my car they had access to a welder but no hardware stores every thing tack welded. I have wondered about those auction cars, “ buyers remorse “ when they get the car home

Hmmm. Buyer beware, even at Mecum. From what I've watched of their actions, nothing is cheap.
