Default Re: Can a Flathead get oil in the radiator?

I changed out the water pumps for the sealed bearing type and they work very well. When I drained the rad the water was clean some sludge debris where the pumps were. I didn’t flush the engine I just drained the rad . After long trips this residue formed under the rad cap. It looks like casting sand sludge and when it comes to contact with water it dissolves . Am I mistaking this for oil under the cap? Thoughts

Looks good. Cap looks useable. But put on a new cap anyway. 8^) Jack E/NJ
