What type of tacks are used to fasten the top to the wood and length?

"Leatherback" or "steelback"?
If "leatherback", see Service Bulletins.
If "steelback", see marco's barnyard site.
I used either galvanized or zinc coated tacks. Length varies with total depth to wood.
