Default cabriolet vs cabernet

I thought I’d share this with you because weird things have always happened to me that others find hard to believe. I forget most of them unless I write them down. So, here goes.

Last Saturday morning at eight on the button, I received a phone call that had me going for awhile. I had just put my cabriolet up for sale on MAFCA the day before, and my wife and I were sitting around talking while she had her coffee to wake her up when the phone rang. I don’t drink coffee and wasn’t entirely with it yet when I picked up the phone and said, “Hello.”

The male voice on the other end asked, “Do you still have that bottle of 1929 cabernet?”

“Huh?” The only thing that registered was 1929. I said, “I beg your pardon,” and he repeated his question about a bottle of wine. All kinds of crap went through my mind, but the main one was. Was someone really serious about paying $16,500 for a bottle of wine? Geez, that a lot for a bottle of wine, and you can’t even drive it.

He explained to me that 1929 was an exceptional year for wine, and I replied that it sure must have been. I told him that it was also an exceptional year for model A Fords as well. He was only interested in wine.

My question is: Does this kind of stuff happen to others or has someone put a big checkmark by my name so I’d have weird shit like this happen fairly often?

I’d really like to know,

Mike

P.S. You don’t have to try to answer because I already know the answer and it is. Yes, the god of weirdness has definitely put a big checkmark by my name.

Sounds like his vision was affected by too much cabernet either the night before or that morning....

MAFCA is a Model A club. Someone seeing your 'bottle of wine" on their site would know what you were selling, I would hope... I think someone is pulling your 'Lariat".

Mike,
I was surprised to see your car in the MAFCA classifieds. As this thread confirms it, I guess you've had all the fun you can stand I've enjoyed your posts, wish you good luck with your sale and hope your next challenge is fruitful.

Mike,

If you do sell your car, don't stay away from Ford Barn. Many have sold their cars but continue to participate. We have people in our Model A club that don't have cars but like the camaraderie. Many of them ride with other members on tours and participate in Club activities.

Maybe the caller just wanted to take it for a taste drive.
