Default 1937 and 1938 cowl sides ?

Hi everyone who reads this.

I have been looking for lower cowl sides, where the fenders bolts on to the cowl for my 38 deluxe build now for a while, as mine are completely rotten but had absolutely no luck. Now today I have been told 37 cowl sides are the same as 38 deluxe cowl sides, does anyone know if this is correct please ? As this would make my search a lot easier.

Thanks , Benedict

That would seem odd as the is so much difference between 38 std and 38 dxl front ends. But I have never compared a 37 to a 38 dxl.

That’s what I thought , then on Wescottsautos.com they sell a cowl patch panel that fits a 37 / 38 deluxe and 39 standard.

Usually the deluxe model, became the standard in the next model year. At least during the late 30’s. Fenders, hoods, grille, were similar, but I don’t know about the cowl.

1937 and 1938 standard cowl sides are, as near as I can tell, identical. 1938 deluxe and 1939 standard used the exact same sides, with the addition of fender mounting holes with captive nuts behind them. The restyle for the 1938 deluxe just moved the fender up onto the cowl side and kept the now abandoned (1937) fender mounting area intact.
