Default Headbolts

Why do some flathead headbolts have an H on the head, and some have an S on the top? (These are Canadian Flatheads)

I've come across both, on various engines.

Regards,

Kirk

Really?
No one has a definitive answer as to why headbolts can have either an 'S' or an 'H' on the head?

My trust in the Fordbarn as the ultimate pool of old timer knowledge is deeply shaken...

The most likely answer was given. Bolts supplied to Ford from alternative suppliers. Not definitive, but most likely. There shouldn't be any physical difference between them. It's not like Using one type over another is an ancient speed secret.

At the time there were two different suppliers for the bolts.
One was located in Hamilton Ontario and the other in Stratford Ontario.
Thus the H and S

Kirk, you need to be a little patient before you rip the Barners.
You got your answer

Clearly the humour intended in my post didn't translate well to text.
I'll try harder next time.

I did assume your reply was tongue in cheek. A winky smily emoticon would have helped.
