Re: twin flathead truck
Looks like about a 10-12 inch wide drive belt, wonder what it powered.

Re: twin flathead truck
I see it every year at Essenhaus car show in Middlebury In. The Essenhaus has a car show every Thursday from spring through September. He did have it running at the show a fw years ago, unfortunately I didn't get any video. I work about 5 minutes away at Jayco in Middlebury In.

Re: twin flathead truck
I thought you meant the Kenz and Leslie truck from Colorado -- this is the faithful recreation that Nick made (Nick's Hotrod Garage):

Re: twin flathead truck
There is/was another thread recently asking why big trucks aren't judged.....well, looking at the photos above, particularly those posted by '36 5W, I can understand why; they are incomparable with anything else! How could you judge that stuff as anything else but orgasmically cool!??

Re: twin flathead truck
Didn't Ford build a bunch of twin powered trucks for transporting plane parts during WWII? They were COE and each engine drove one of the rear wheels.

Re: twin flathead truck
The one posted is pretty neat (tri flathead really ), any history? Was it a restored vehicle, or a new creation? Looks like something new? At that time, farm implement would be up to par to the v8. But you never know! Pair of 37 motors to run the belt.
Back in the day, engine services for farmers was actual. Drive your hit/miss or belt driven machine to the farm. Run the thresher then go home. Or a farmer could put a model T/A on blocks in the rear and bolt on a belt wheel to the rear. Good thing they had a throttle rod so you could set throttle and didn't have to sit in the cab and run the throttle. Last edited by Tinker; 11-04-2019 at 03:03 AM. |

Re: twin flathead truck
Here is a picture of my dad as a kid (leaning over the engine of a A they used to run implement on the farm and tear up ditches for fun) Note the rim/wheel welded to the wheel on the left of frame. Guy on the running board and his kids was a "city" relative whom insisted on the picture. .
