Proper glue?
Hi guys! I picked up a 55 sedan recently. PO glued air vent knob on to cable (driver side) with silicone. Of course I pulled it off. The end of cable appears to be roughed up, or maybe threaded? So, after cleaning silicone off both pieces what type of adhesive should I use to attach bakelite knob to steel wire?
I have gorilla glue, epoxy, silicone, and prob a variation of liquid steel available...or should I use some sort of specific auto adhesive? Thanks for your help. |

Re: Proper glue?
I would use the 2 part epoxy.
I would try my best to remove ALL silicone residue from inside the knob (might have to drill it out), and clean any silicone residue from the cable or rod. (maybe with small wire wheel in a drill) .

Re: Proper glue?
As I recall I attached my existing plastic headlight switch knob to a new shaft from a new unit using two part epoxy...a strong brand, like JB Weld. No problems so far. Silicone or Liquid Nails would be a loser, IMO.
