Re: A little off topic
From an ex-vocational ag teacher and FFA member. Math, English, etc. are all important, but the FFA teaches a lot about life. I can still say the FFA Creed (the old version). My FFA teacher whup my butt enough, I think I could have said it backwards. Best teacher I ever had. And by the way if our country and the world would live by that Creed a whole lot of things would be cured over night.

Re: A little off topic
Good luck to you, John. Nice hearing good things from and about you. I retired teaching high school vocational Electrical Trades in upstate New York. Learning that trade, has been an asset to may of my past students and I know it sure has helped you.
* As SJComier#21 states : it's not some much the parents and students - It is the educational systems through out the U.S.A. From what I have observed (teaching and sub-teaching in N.Y. - Florida and N.C.) the vocational schools are closing or shrinking the actual "Trade" classes and in turn, they are main streaming the hard to learn and difficult students to simple skills in some of the vocational areas. I think, America is in need of good working trades people. Learning the actual basic skills and advanced working skills in high school is an excellent first step. |
