Oil pump & pan?
I'm working on a 36 V8 pick up. I have a 50lb gauge and oli pump.
My question is about the pickup screen WRT the drain plug (see photos). There is about 3/4" clearance between the pan and the pickup housing. Is this OK? I also have a 80lb pump with the dog leg pick up tube. I would need to cut a slot in the baffle of it to fit, and it too would be 3/4" off the bottom of the pan. I would rather not use the 80lb, because the gauge will not allow it.

Re: Oil pump & pan?
Should be less than 3/4" to the pick up . Your photos appear correct. Can you tell if it is touching the pan? Your pan doesn't look like 36.

Re: Oil pump & pan?
The two pictures posted may be somewhat deceiving when viewing them on my small cell phone screen, but to me there does not appear to be 3/4" clearance between the screen and the bottom inside surface of the oil pan. It is critical to have enough clearance between the sheet metal pickup where the screen is mounted and the inside bottom surface of the oil pan. Too little clearance could starve the flow of oil thru the engine.

Yes I don't know what year the pan is, it does have the breather vent. Any guess on what it is?
