Default A Good Day On The Blue Ridge Parkway

Took the Model A and drove about twenty five miles north on the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville, NC up to Craggy Gardens. It was a beautiful, sunshiney day with large puffy white clouds on a dark blue sky, cool (50's)on the high ridge with a good breeze blowing. I took a picnic and a comfortable folding chair. The goal was to watch the MAFCA Blue Ridge Parkway Tour pass by on their drive south from Boone, NC to Asheville, NC. Craggy Gardens has a small Visitors Shop and bathrooms so I knew that some of the Model A's would stop for a short break and ALL of the Model A's would have to pass by. I spent the entire afternoon talking with many excited tourists and best of all several of the Model A tour group. I met some good people and saw some really nice Model A's. It was fun hearing their stories of the first days of the tour and answering questions about the BRP and the local area. I invited them to come back in mid-June for the real "spring time" on the high NC-VA mountains and the Blue Ridge Parkway, America's best Model A road! Good luck to all on the tour as they complete their tour and make their way home.

Be sure to check out Happy Begg's tour blog on the MAFCA web site.

I think the best time for a BRP tour is Oct. , when the leaves are turning .

The weather would be better also .

Did the Skyline Drive and the BRP early April last year in a modern car. Weather was warm and sunny all week. What a great drive. Spent three days in Asheville and toured the Biltmore Mansion. Too bad the weather wasn't better for the Model A's this year.

I live in Nova Scotia Canada... a number of years back we toured the Parkway. Absolutely beautiful. I'll never forget it. We also spent some time in the Luray Caverns. Amazing spectacle... that was a trip of a life time.
