Thanks! They are not perfect. Michael at 3rd Gen says the pump should be fine with 0.006” clearance between the gears. Seems much higher than similarity designed oil pumps, but I trust his word.
I also noticed that there seems to be this extra part (second from left). The other pump I have does not have it, and I don’t see it in the exploded views I looked at.

Was doing “final” assembly and noticed the original cam drive gear was damaged where the solid pin was located. I mentioned I had a hard time getting the pin out. Even so, I’m really surprised the gear collar was damaged in such a manner. Luckily, I had the drive gear from the aftermarket oil pump. Getting that on wasn’t easy either as the gear ended up cocked a bit even with the split pin (from the aftermarket oil pump) through all the drive shaft and gear on one side. Really strange. Tapping it with a brass hammer got the hole aligned with the pin.

Damaged area around where the pin passed through the cam drive gear of the original oil pump. No such damage on the cam drive gear from the aftermarket pump.

Default Re: Oil Pump Rebuild Question

Just received the gaskets yesterday for the bottom gear cover plate and pickup tube so fitting/flange so decided to finish off the assembly. Couldn’t find any torque specs for the bolts, so just assumed they were equivalent to Gr 5 (1/4-28) and torqued them to 7.3 ft-lbs (88 in-lbs) which felt about right. Same for the pressure relief valve cap, so torqued it to about 12-15 ft-lbs based on just the feel/resistance. Didn’t have any blue thread locker on hand so hoping the split lock washers and correct torque will suffice. Had some stainless steel wire laying around so used it to secure the cap for the pressure relief valve. Also replaced the original copper? washer with the fibre one that came with the other gaskets. Used the old drill trick to twist the wires together which worked great. With the addition of the bottom cover gasket, the gears spin very nicely without any rubbing or resistance. I also noticed the gasket for the gear cover plate extends past the edges of the cover and housing slightly. Not sure if I should trim it.
