Default 1932 Ford rear brake drum questions

Is anyone reproducing the stock 32 Ford rear brake drums? I believe 32-34 are all the same. Can any other later years be used? If not, is there a source for a good used one?

'32-34 brake drums have not been reproduced to the best of my knowledge and they are becoming a challenge to find still within usable inside diameter.

I didn't ask anyone to "give them away" so not sure what you are talking about.

Ok gotcha. For what it is worth I searched the Fordbarn classifieds first, before posting, and I did not see any for sale. Perhaps I didn't search correctly. Anyway, I had a local gentleman reach out to me and I will see what he has this weekend.

Being that .060 is generally the max oversize when turning drums and .090 is usually the max wear throw away number; what would be considered a limit for purchase of a worn drum that didn't need turning and would be used on limited use car.

Seems most all '32-'34 & '35 drums I come across are pretty well used and I just hate to just scrap them.

Makes you wonder what spec's they used in the old days since it is not uncommon to find shims behind brake linings.

Interesting point. If I recall correctly, numbers that were thrown out for wear limits from the back in the day from old timers were .090". I've even heard .120". I'd assume thicker lining and other "tricks" were used when going that far out.

I believe someone mentioned about a service that will reline brake drums back to spec. I'd assume this is not a cheap endeavor.

How about sayings regarding the Ford juice brake drums with the bevel on the edge; if there was a flat edge left, they were good and if knife edged, they were all used up.

Use J&G Brake Drum Relining & Refurbishing www.jgrelining.com/ they will reline & refurbished your original brake drums and also re-arc your brake shoes to the drum.
